Psychology is the study of the mind and behaviour. Psychologists use their clinical skills to help people learn to cope more effectively with life stressors and mental health problems, with the aim to enhance emotional wellbeing, reduce distress, identify and change unhelpful patterns, and promote healthy relationships with others. Psychologists use a variety of therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based interventions, and psychotherapy, depending on their clients’ needs.
